South Korea has proposed talks with North Korea to ease animosities along their tense border and resume family reunions.
North Korea's state media has not immediately responded to South Korea's overtures.

"The Defense Ministry proposes to hold a military talks between the two Koreas on July 21 at Tongilgak in North Korea to stop all hostile actions which heightens military tensions at the border", said Seoul's Vice Defense Minister Seo Joo-seok on Monday.
"Once that is established, then both sides can understand what the other is seeking".
