A day after skipping a meeting called by Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi to introduce presidential and vice- presidential picks Meira Kumar and Gopalkrishna Gandhi respectively to opposition parties, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar-led JD (U) on Monday announced its three senior functionaries would accompany Gandhi when he files his nomination on Tuesday. This was apparently because he is a member of the state legislative council and, as such, ineligible to vote.
The Janata Dal (United) on Saturday said that party leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has not demanded resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, who has been named in a First Information Report (FIR). Party leaders hinted the next 72 hours could be crucial as chief minister Nitish Kumar could take a "harsh line" after voting is over in the presidential election.
The party leaders said the Congress and other senior leaders from within the alliance have started coming forward to mediate between Mr Kumar and Mr Lalu Yadav.
Water resources minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh and parliamentary affairs minister Shravan Kumar, both of the JD (U), also reached the assembly campus early, apparently to keep a watch on activities of the party legislators.
Hungover Roger Federer calls on next generation to add more variety
Most of all, I admire the fact that Federer has remained free of controversy throughout his career. "My head's ringing", he said. There was a 14-year age difference between the two finalists, as the 23-year-old Muguruza took on the 37-year-old Venus.
Lalu Prasad Yadav to slammed Nitish Kumar as he is supporting NDA's nominee for presidential elections.
The polling officially closed at 5:00 pm though the last person to cast his vote was around 2:30 pm. Though none of the top JD (U) leaders gave any statement, party MLA Shyam Sunder Singh said, "It would be better if our party decides to break the alliance today". Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashok Kumar Choudhary has met Lalu and expressed solidarity with him. "The BJP will be standing with him on his decision on this issue".
RJD has chose to remain united not only for the presidential elections but also for the future so that the country doesn't slip into the hands of communal forces.
A total of 241 out of 243 MLAs cast their votes on the Bihar assembly premises. However, BJP MLA Anand Bhushan Pandey could not vote due to serious illness.
